By midnight after drinking all day and enjoying yourself you want really care about the selection of food just that it's there.
The water is no more than waste deep at the deep section. Most people either walk out or float out to it. If you walk wear flip flops or water shoes to avoid the sea urchins.

My wife and I have only been three times now and the sand gravity usually gets us both the first day. By the 2nd day we start pacing ourselves they will do fine.
