We are thinking of going to Hedo in January and wondering if its worth the extra money to upgrade to an oceanview room ? Am I reading correctly that not all rooms have terraces ?

No not worth it
Back at Delroy's November 16th to 26th for Spanksgiving
You should be in your room for two things and two things only...sleep and
There are a lot of good threads on rooms in here.
The rooms themselves are all pretty much the same.
Some have ocean view and the windows open. (I know to some city-dwellers, this is worth it.)
No balcony/patio.
UNLESS you get one of the handful that have a hot tub.
Which, in January, I'm going to say were sold out a year ago. (Lifestyle month)
What all the previous discussions have boiled down to is this: If you have money to burn, go for it.
Otherwise, balance the cost vs "benefits" of the 4 categories of rooms. (again, ignoring the 5th and 6th hot tub nude and hot tube prude categories, assuming they are long gone for January)
("Benefits": proximity to restaurants, nude pool/hot tub, view)
Keeping in mind, the entire resort is clothing optional. (This used to be a "benefit" - not having to dress to go back to the room)
My personal take: I book the least expensive room. I'm hardly EVER there. I pack my bag for the day, and even if I have to run back, it's not more than 10 minutes resort end-to-end. (20 minutes round trip, about the the time it takes to get a drink at the nude pool bar. WHICH, you can grab a drink at one of the other bars in that 20 minutes, so you're almost time neutral! lol)
I'd say nude side, garden view is my preference. Just a couple of minutes to the nude pool and maybe a minute to the nude beach. I've stayed oceanview and never once looked out the window. Prude side is more of a hike, but not a deterent, as it saves money.
I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.
For our up coming trip in april the difference in staying in the ovu to the gvn was 40 bucks. Thats not a bunch of money when you think about how much closer you are to the party

Hedo II April 12 - 19 2014
we found prude rooms ocean view too far from the water to make a dif, and the view was blocked with trees
nude side is much closer so at least the sound of the waves are there

Would love to connect before the trip with any one there at the same time.
I doubt that it will even be relevent at this late date. If, if you can even find a room I think you will have to take whatever is available.
January is pretty much sold out and rooms hard to come by...Our choice Garden view nude...closer to the nude pool than many of the nude ocean view rooms and pretty central to buffet, disco, piano bar and nude beach...which are pretty much a min. of 100 ft from ocean (just guessing on distance)...you can see the ocean from the rooms, but as stated with the trees...not worth the extra money for the view.

If you can afford Ocean View Nude, get it. But this late and that time of the year, take what ever you can get.
There are no bad rooms at Hedo, just different locations.
We love seeing, hearing and smelling the ocean, from an open window or patio door.

Last time we had garden view nude... the view out of the window was of a tree and what looked like an AC unit.
For our upcoming trip we got the ocean view nude. I agree with the sentiment that you don't spend that much time in the room, but the price difference when we booked wasn't that much so being able to wake up to the sound and smell of the ocean (as copnkitten mentioned) was enough to sway us. However, had the price difference been more than a small amount, we would have stuck with the "garden" view.
I would go with prude ocean view good location 2 minute walk to the nude side and a good value for the $$
