    Bad start to our Holiday

    My wife and I traveled to Hedo 111 for the second time from Feb 24-March 2. We had a late flight on Sunwing from Toronto which went smoothly. We arrived at Approx 8:45 pm and went to the Superclubs Reception room arriving at 9:30-Immigration and customs went very well.
    On arrival we were advised that Hedo3 was full and that we would be lodged at Breezes Runaway Bay-we were very disappointed but were told we would be moved very early in the morning. We were the first couple to arrive at the Superclubs reception. The next couple were told the same thing as to being bumped. The next 8 people were advised that they were being bumped as well and were being sent to Pipers Cove for the night. They had overbooked all the people going to Hedo on our flight!!!
    We got on the bus and headed to Breezes.We arrived at Breezes at 10:30pm-the ride was good and there was no beer stop as we requested.We went to reception and explained that we were bumped along with giving them the registration card we recieved at the Airport. The lady on the front desk looked at us like we had 3 eyes and stated they were full and that they did not have any rooms at all for us We stood in the loby listening to some very bad Karaoke while she was on the phone-she finally finished and said that there definetly were no rooms.While she was on the phone we learnt that the other couple that we travelled with were on their Honeymoon!!! and had booked in Sept. They were very upset to say the least!!!We asked to speak to the night manager-Mr Steven Wright came out and we spoke to him he stated we had to go to Pipers Cove Hotel-which was just down the street from Hedo-the other couple wanted to go to Grande Lido Braco-he insisted they had no rooms either we wanted him to call and confirm what he thought-he did and surprise -they had rooms-but he would have to contact Hedo to allow us to stay there-it seems Superclubs is not one big happy family.
    After more time and the hour he advised us we should stay at Pipers Cove-it was nice and we could go to Hedo that night and use the facilities as it was just down the road from Hedo. We finally relented and said just get us there so at approx midnight we got to Pipers-it was nice for a 2 star resort and Daisy the owner is very very nice. We lived out of our suitcase and decided to go to Hedo for an hour or so to get food ect. We then told if you wanted to go to Hedo you needed to have a Security person take you there and back.Pipers cove is right at the end of the driveway off the highway as it turns to the right to go to Hedo-not that far and not really as close or safe as Mr Wright had informed us.So at 1am we finally get to Hedo.
    I stopped at the front desk and spoke to a Judy-ann Collins who could not have been more unhelpful if she tried-I inquired when we could get into our room in the morning -she replied I don't know -check in is at 130 and I would have to see the Manager in the morning-I had the feeling that the whole situation was my fault -not theirs. I asked when the first group left in the morning-she was very bothered by this and advised me it was 9am. I then said well we should be able to come over by 10am and get a room . She said check-in is at 130 and I would have to see the manager in the morning. We left totally frustrated.We stayed until 215 and got escorted to Pipers with security.
    Next morning at aprox 10am we arrived at Hedo.We think things have to improve and go to the desk only to be advised that check in is 130-when asked to speak to the Manager we are advised they are all in a meeting until 2pm-Great 2 days gone from our vacation and I think I got a bit loud because of my frustration over Hedos indifferance to the situation. Well things were about to change-Chris Smith of Customer Service overheard our problem and became a saint-she got us an upgraded room ,a late check-out on our day of leaving and monetary compensation-she saved the day and despite the start made the vacation very good-she is the best the employee there in our eyes.
    Sorry about all the space taken up so far but people at the resort stated that 50 rooms were overbooked for that week-end. Superclubs stated it was not their fault but travel agents that sell the property and leave the form on their desk and do not advise Superclubs-hmmm-the honeymoon couple booked in Sept.
    End of that-Review-Food in specalty restaurants very good buffet got abit boring but well prepared .Scotch Bonnet very good
    Entertainment OK-Thrill is very good-Spike is well Spike
    Disco music much better than last
    Piano Bar-sorry John its just not as good
    Rooms -good-towels were always late arriving-front desk had to be called 3Xs to get towels at all
    General -Hedo is a 3 star hotel-it is looking very old-needs paint ect
    They sell a certain type of vacation and are taking advantage of it but I spoke to more people who were unhappy with it and will not be back.
    One thing that stood out for us was we have travelled extensivly around the Carribean, Central and South America and found that the Hotel Manager and Assistant Managers are very visible-like they are very proud of their resort where as the Hedo Managers seem to hide behind their doors like they don't want to be confronted by the guests.
    All in all would I return-no as it is now-if they get better management who will have pride in Hedo and re-invest some of my money to make it a 4-5 star resort- in the mean time there are several other resorts that deserve our money.

    All I can say is WOW am I ever sorry to hear of our experiance. I was there the 28th of Jan to 4 Feb and all was well, excellent even. Excepet the front desck which I thought was rude and generally unhelpful. Customer service was outstanding. The accomidated a few unusual requests.

    I hate that you had a bad time. I imagine that starting off like that would have ruined your vacation at any resort. I won't defend Hedo (like I usually do) on this one. This was a big miss, and unfortunately it happened to "you." My only questions are... How many days were you there and did you have any fun during the rest of your stay?

    I am no "McGuiver" and I can't usually make chocolate ice cream out of a turd either, but did things turn around at all?

    We were there for a week and other than the first day being useless to us we had a good time. Thank you
    I did not write this just to bitch but to let other people know about the possibility of being bumped.
    I know people on here generally love Hedo but sometimes I think they take advantage of it and peoples good nature.Again thank you.
