We have talked about it a bit as well. We have always travelled with a group and while we have played (well I might add!) with others on occasion we go to H3 for the party then whatever happens, happens. Frankly the idea of just going somewhere to hook up with other people is not terribly enticing to us, and is something we can do near our home most weekends should that be our goal.
I am happy to see the various opinions on the groups who go- perhaps with the recent changes afoot at H3 we will take another look.
    Cheers!

We,ve been to Desire in 08 and 09.......both trips were different....it depends who is there at the same time as you....the second trip we found the people more clicky. We were at hedo 3 for 2 weeks this spring....and during those 2 weeks we had days where everybody was friendly and other days where people were clicky and kept to themselves. Easter weekend, half the resort's guests were Jamaican and they didn't mingle much with others. It all depends who is there at the same time as you

We had some great trips to Hedo...but we fell in love with Desire. The below is a trip report we sent ot some folks on 4Hedonism.com that asked us about the trip..

    Desire trip Report:
We had a fantastic time! Mix of Swinger, Nudist and Flirty naked people. All were cool.
The rooms better than Hedonism 2. Lounge chairs by the Jacuzzi or you can escape to the beds where you can have a more “private” time.
The refurbished Disco blows H2's away. Circular bar has seats, couches and beds abound with a "play room” located off to the side. Two poles on the dance floor. Dance floor is small, but fits the size of the resort. Entertainment / Theme nights – as good or better than H2
Pool – better than H2 – clothing optional – 99% of everyone is naked. No swim up bar, but the pool side waitresses and waiters hustle to get drinks. Great group of waiters and waitresses.
Beach: Better than H2; chairs, beach beds are cool, well kept beach. Ocean water is clear – nicer than H2. Food – better than H2. Good sushi and hibachi restaurant. Food at the buffet is a theme night...steak night, Italian night, etc.
Spa: as good as H2 – better amenities. The weight room is adequate. Not as good as H2.
Selling point - No singles. At Hedo II, most are fine; however, 1 in 10 are annoying and ruin it for the other singles. Many converts from Hedo go to Desire.

We may go back in the fall (we'll see how finances are) - Sept / October time frame.

Thanks Scott and Sarah...your post is very helpful. We just got back from Hedo II a couple of days ago. It was our first time and we were disappointed. We are also working on a Sept trip to Desire. Maybe we will see ya there. Deana

Just as an FYI, the gym at Desire has just been renovated, and new equipment brought in, so I believe that that too would now surpass HII's.

Thanks for the insight! We're H3 fanatics looking for a new "home"...
About the party scene at Desire, is it comparable to Hedo? Is there a lot of PDA going on? Groups overtaking the resort?

    Cheers

Speaking in a very broad sense, Desire seemed to attract a crowd of folks that either stayed to themselves, or stayed in cliques. Hedo seems to attract outgoing and fun-loving folks. Obviously there were exceptions to that for both resorts. I can't say one is better then the other. Each resort just seems to fit a certain niche group.
I couldn't agree more- been to both Desire and Hedo3. We were BORED within 48 hours at Desire. The "ECs" may play a little bocce ball or volleyball, but that' s about it. Desire tries to be more of a romantic, couples kind of place. There is only one pool and it is clothing optional, and depending on the crowd, there may not be much nudity. We will not go back--- although in fairness, if you are with a group and make your own atmosphere, you may enjoy Desire, although there are many more restrictions on PDAs there.

WE have visited Desire (a number of times over several years) HII many, many times (over about 30 years), and HIII (since it opened -- and now closing). We have met HARD CORE European swingers at all three. We have met non-nudists at all three. We have met everything between the extremes at all three. A Group of introspective 'lifestylers' can be a very rude, insular downer at any resort. On the other hand, any group of open minded, friendly people (whatever their schtick) are a pleasure to be with -- even if their thing is not your thing.

That being said, it's well worth the effort to find out what groups are at what resort, when you plan to visit. It's well worth the effort of joining whatever Yahoo group (0r similar) is up and running for your arrival dates. And it's really worth the effort of introducing yourself to as many people as possible (buy them all a drink!) upon arrival. Join in (to your personal limits) be non-judgmental and non-preachy.

Pay my way and we will return to any of the resorts (even HIII if it stays open). If we wish to travel to one of the resorts next month we look for the best deal. Right now Desire has some great prices out of Toronto for the Fall. Usually HII is a better price. But as to the people -- that's a crap game but we have NEVER run into a large mod of nasty people at any of the resorts. A few inconsiderate bums, Yes. But we have great memories of all the adult places we've visited. We see many of their names here on this site, with very cogent comments.

Lifestyle definately! Great place to go and a lot closer to the airport than either Hedo(s). However, there are so many issues with violence and torturing people in that area that it is kind of scary to go there now.

I totally agree with you Scott. The outdoor beds are awesome and so is the atmosphere. You can be a romantic with your partner or party on with the crowd. It totally depends on the crowd there and your own personality. Me...I like to meet as many people and party on. The more friends you make the better!!!!

Really?! You mean the drug gang violence going on in Mexico? Like, in the border area? Juarez? Or in Mexico City? Cancun, and the Yucatan, is over 1000 miles away from all that stuff. No need to spread ridiculous, over-hyped misinformation.

We've been to Desire twice. We're not in the lifestyle and only play with each other. We have never felt left out or treated any differently. Admittedly, we are not very social and tend to hang out with each other, but I never felt anyone was standoffish or unfriendly. Clearly your mileage may vary on this depending on the crowd at the time. But, I really think there's a big overlap between Desire and Hedo people, so the crowds tend to be much alike (less the singles, who I don't miss).

That said, our trips to Desire are an interesting paradox when compared to Hedo (II or III). The food is better. The rooms are nicer. The property looks nicer. The beach is much nicer. Everything feels a bit more upscale than at Hedo. In general, it's a much nicer resort all-around. It's clothing-optional, which suits us better (okay, bad word there) than nude, since we're more the mixed couple in that regard (and we really loved Hedo III this year for that reason as well and hate so much to see it die). However, we never seem to enjoy the trip as much as we do a trip to Hedo. It's hard to put a finger on it. Part of it is the tropical ambiance in Jamaica, which we prefer to that of Mexico. The Hedo's just seem so green (well other than the giant concrete pad at III). Also, the staff just seems more "interesting". I'm not saying they are nicer or better or anything. The staff at Desire was very nice as well. The Jamaicans just seem more fun. And, I think there's a little thing that sometimes it's the flaws that make you feel more at home. Maybe Hedo just seems more at our level than Desire? We'll likely go back to Desire, but it's low on our vacation list right now.

We first went to Hedo III on our honeymoon back in 2006, and then went back in 2007 and 2008. This year since we waited so long to book and couldn't get into Hedo III and didn't want to visit Hedo II at this point, we decided on Desire. We hope it lives up to our expectation. Not that we're looking for anything per say, just looking forward to a nice vacation with no clothes on!

"However, there are so many issues with violence and torturing people in that area that it is kind of scary to go there now. "

Last few times at Desire we did not see or hear of anyone be tortured at the resort. We did see a couple 'bound' on a swing, with some cries and squeals of pleasure. But torture -- NO. I did see some people rush to the bar, but that was as close to violence as we got. That's not what Desire is about, and it's way too far of the main road for most trouble makers. Not much point in holding up a bunch of naked people. No money, no pockets, nada.
