    do i need a passport?

    or can i use some other form of id to get from us to jamaica?

    You can use an original birth certificate with a raised seal.
    But a pass port is MUCH better!

    Go for the passport, It is probably the most accepted ID available.

    I agree that a passport is the way to go. Besides, you can start accumulating those nifty stamps! But seriously, the problem is more significant for women, if your drivers license doesn't match your birth certificate you will ALSO need every piece of documentation in between (marriage or divorce certificates)
