North Haven Resort...Michigan

Well, people have been asking and we finally went last weekend for 3 nights/4days for their Carribean Weekend.

It's a campground with rental units available...a theme each weekend and reported to be Hedo Like....Here are our impressions

It is an exceptional property...extremely well maintained and well groomed. Velma and Larry have done an excellent job expanding their park and making it very neat and tidy...no old dilapidated trailers like we've seen at many nudist resorts. A bit hilly at times to walk around, but 30 minutes and you could do a whole lap of the place. Quite friendly on check-in (we rented one of their suites for the stay...very nice but the view a bit to be desired., had our reservation and room ready...personally shown to our room by Larry, who then gave us a tour of the resort in his golf cart...showed us where all his rental units are, a few park model trailers that are centrally located that we'll try next time, log cabins are nice, but no bathroom facilities, and we'd avoid the tree house...looks nice in the picture...but mosquito heaven.

A Busy weekend although the weather forecast made for not that many weekend campers (but it held out...no rain except overnight when it can rain all it wants...plenty of sunshine at the pool!) all the rental units were taken!...a couple of tents and trailers pulled in, but mostly their seasonal residents there. Everyone was friendly and we had no problem being invited to a campfire, or pot luck dinner each night.

Disco was active on the Sat. night, and we actually won a free weekend ground pass for next year...guess we'll have to go again!! The theme night was billed as PJ Night just like Hedo...and it was, only about 1/2 of people dressed in PJ's...lol...the girls mostly in slutwear attire, but the guys not participatory at all...except for one or two...As the night progessed people ended up dancing Nekkid. They did give away 3 nights at Hedo and 4 nights at Caliente Caribe plus other prizes.

Billed as a clothing optional resort...90% Nude at the pool...only saw one girl in full top and bottom/rest of the minority were topless. Mainly Nude...No PDA...strictly enforced.

Good/Bad...they are not licensed so you have to take your own booze with you (just had to carry small cooler around) as well as no food facilities so we brought our own to cook on the provided BBQ...I guess you could argue cost effective, but it was nice not being "forced" to buy $5 beer around the pool. They have a "small" store...but not much there, so bring what you need with you...Brooklyn is about 5 miles so nearest store is a drive. Arrive before 6 as the office is closed and Gate requires a code...if you call in advance late arrival, they'll give it to you apparently.

Lifestyle...It was around although not in your face...if you wanted to find it you could...so very Hedo like that the weekend can be whatever you want it to be. But generally pretty laid back. Singles are NOT Allowed after 6PM according to their website, however; if a single is "sponsored" by a seasonal member, they are allowed to stay...a convenient "bending" of the rules....again very Hedo Like!...but, we were only aware of one single guy...and he turned out to be very nice.

Will we go again...YES...even though it was a 5 1/2 hr. drive for us, we had a great time, good people, good potlucks, felt very welcomed as an "outsider"...Is it Hedo?? not quite, but pretty close for Michigan. **Note for fellow Canadians**...DO NOT take tomato's over the border...Homeland Security is on the ball and will confiscate them and give you a lecture for bringing "terror fruit" into the country (apparently $10,000 fine for each offending tomato!!!...but we had a nice, miserable guy who just took our "fruit" for incineration and "yelled" at us for trying to bring contraband into "his" country without declaring it!!!)

Great report you two - We love to camp (primitive usually) and we've been thinking about trying out one of the C/O campgrounds to fill in time between Hedo trips. It boggles our minds that if it's 5.5 hours for you from Toronto, it's 6.5 for us here in the Midwest (at least according to Google Maps), but then again, all good things are worth waiting (or in this case driving) for.

LOL....includes 45 minutes at the border for the "tomato" incident.
BTW lots of Illinois people there...although mostly Chicago area...plenty of Ohio too!

Some friends of ours have gone 2 or 3 times and said it was fantastic...gave pretty much the same report you did Scott, sans tomato incident (that's unreal...lol). I wonder how they'd feel about some of the WMD's in Mrs.Sexy's toy box....lol

We've thought about going with our friends to check it out, but it's about 8hrs for us if it's 5.5 for you... . A weekend would end up costing us 1/2 a Hedo trip...lol.
