Seeing the sights on Scooters?

I am heading down to Hedo next June with three buddies and are thinking of renting some scooters for the day to see some of the island. I 've been to Hedo twice before (12 years ago) and did the tourist trip however we are interested in having more control on where to go this time. What are your suggestions on where to go, where to rent, the cost, and any safety concerns (I remember that we have to drive on the left-side of the road).
