"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proudly proclaiming -- WOW! What a ride!"
Next ride to Hedo: Jan 29th - Feb 16th 2016. :
First the owners clearly like their privacy, and more importantly, your privacy. There are no signs at the entrance, no neighbours on the lake and no drama in the resort. It's couples only and obviously no one under 18. The week we were there the group was half twenty somethings and half 30-50 somethings. We were in the middle.
Sandy Bottoms used to be Hedo North, same people, same philosophy, different name. The owners live on site, though in a secluded location, and check in periodically and party with the guests sporadically. The overall vibe is a mix of Hedo party and Ontario cottage. You truly feel like you are all there as friends rather than guests. This is partly done by forcing everyone to mingle. There is only one place to really make food (though there are bbq's and grills scattered around) which inevitably results in mingling and cooperation. By the end of our first day we had met everyone (about 40 or so people) and settled into the rhythm.
Details. It's naked everywhere. Some people were clothed, one or two women wore bottoms but the majority were down to hats and sunglasses pretty quick. Most covered up in the common areas but the beach and hot tub were the happening spots.
You have a choice of accommodations. Tenting is a bargain at about $70 a person/week. They also have cabins and 9 motel rooms. The motel rooms have private baths, the cabins and tents share a mens and ladies shower rooms. Cabins have queen size beds, light and power, window fans and a small fridge. The motel rooms are nice too though the most expensive. We went with a cabin and were happy, espcially during the inevitable thunderstorm. Plus the three head showers proved to be a popular gathering spot...
Food is what you make of it. I brought a briefcase of cooking utensils and spices but it wasn't necessary. Bring all your own sauces and meals but if you forget ketchup or something there's lots of that. Plus there is a town with multiple stores selling everything only 15 minutes away. I guarantee you will at least be making one run to the beer store or LCBO. Butterscotch liquer body shots were very popular.
In addition to the private beach, there is a small lake with a trampoline and swimming/diving platform. You can swim out to them or take one of the many canoes, paddleboards or kayaks around. There is an 8 person hot tub on the first deck overlooking the lake though it may have at times been over capacity. Above the first deck is the main lodge. The hill is quite steep though. This is not a wheelchair friendly place. The owners were in the process of building the new deck when we were there so hopefully that will be finished shortly. The main lodge is quite spectacular and well designed. There is a large granite island that will seat 12 people easily plus lots of big comfy furniture. There is always someone willing to DJ and at least when we were there, always sexy and exotic women to dance with.
We all fell into a rhythm of breakfast before noon, afternoons on the beach or touring local attractions, supper starting around six and finishing about twilight. Everyone helped cook, most helped with dishes. Everyone drank copious amounts of wine. After supper the dancing and debauchery, costume changes, whipped cream and body shot decadence began. And then ended around 3 or 4 or in the morning. No one complained even though some nights the music did get a little loud. Those on the quieter end of the spectrum could enjoy two different campfire spots, several private gazebos, or a large hall with a stage, table tennis and a small fitness equipment area. We tended to stay in the lodge and party which was by far the most popular spot. It's a good thing the attire was so casual though as the room would get hot. We were assured that AC and or better ventilation was coming but we had to keep the doors closed to keep out the typical Ontario flying bugs with teeth big enough to take chunks out of you. Screen door would go a long way.
Overall we had a great time and will be looking forward to a return visit.
Travel time to the resort is probably 3 hours from the east side of Toronto, 3 hours from Ottawa, 4.5 hours from Montreal.
Thank you very much for the great descriptive. We have been curious about the place and now will probably make plans to go sometime.
Cheers

NEW YEARS EVE H2
Dec.27 to Jan.5th 2019
12th Anniversary New Years Like No Other!!
It's only Hard Core when YOU'RE not doing it!!!
I believe the largest turnout at Sandy Bottoms maybe this coming week of August 21-27. They have the following advertised to occur: foam party, live DJ , wet t contest, lube wrestling, nude volleyball, body painting, etc... Sounds like a great time for Ontario, Canada. We will do a post after we spend a weekend next month as to our experience. It will be our first time at Sandy Bottoms and we are looking forward to it. The communication with the resort has been very positive and customer oriented so far. Hoping to find it to be a very enjoyable Canadian spot to visit
