We just got back from trip #7 in the last 2-years....I guess you could say we're still trying to figure out if we like it or not. :-)
We arrived at MBJ mid-afternoon on Monday, 4/10 and the airport customs area was quite busy. We learned that in March, the customs workers were on strike and they were just getting back to normal. We were able to use the kiosks but still had quite a line even after the kiosks and our bags beat us out. From there, our usual transportation company (Rockys) was waiting and off we went. We arrived on Easter Monday in Jamaica, which is a holiday for them, and we made it in about 15 minutes less time because of very light traffic. Kenneth was our driver and he was great.
For us, our "normal day" after morning sex is 1) breakfast, 2) showers, 3) nude beach and ocean time, 4) lunch of some kind, 5) nude pool, 6) sunset, 7) showers to get ready for dinner, 8) after party (glow, dance, piano bar), 9) play room, 10), sleep and repeat. We do like to participate in the nightly themes.
We dined each night in the main dining room except one night at The Flame. Time got away from us and we feel like everything went by so fast that we didn't get to eat at the Hibachi restaurant or even Pastafari. The dining room food is always very good and they are very consistent with their quality. The Flame though was fantastic with basically a 5-course dinner meal. The soup and salad there was self serve from a buffet and then we ordered from the menu an appetizer, main course and a dessert.
Each night the entertainment was fabulous but definitely Wednesday and Friday's shows top them all by far!
We did not do any excursions but did walk down the beach just past Sandals to the Lobster Grill for lunch one day. This is where we learned that Lobster was out of season and they were prohibited from selling any lobster past a certain date or suffer a penalty if caught serving it. Apparently this is breeding time for lobster and they were allowed to serve any remaining lobster they may have frozen but the cut off date for that was later in the week and then nothing for a period of time.
The beaches were in great shape. The ocean was excellent too with quite minimal sea weed. The nude pool was, as usual, entertaining during the afternoon and it never fails, you see something that you can't unsee...good, bad or indifferent but this is part of what makes Hedo and we love it! :-)
The Piano Bar was hopping and, while we missed Deon, they have recovered nicely!
The playroom seemed to be busy early and then hit or miss late. The staff in there was great and were regularly changing the bedding and making sure everything was clean. They made a wonderful addition to the playroom though with the addition of the Glory Hole. There were basically 4 boxes for him to stand in and floor cushions for her. Whew!
Then sadly we had to come home Saturday afternoon, 4/15/23. Rockys took us back to MBJ and we got there almost 2 1/2 hours before our flight. It took us nearly an hour just to get one bag checked and then another half hour to get through security. They are very thorough but I'm not sure the thoroughness matches efficiency. For example, if you're checking a bag...make sure your bag tag is filled out completely...and I mean completely (a name and phone number isn't good enough). If it's not, they'll make you fill it all out at the counter before they'll check your bag and this only causes delays.
Two lessons learned for us. Because we stayed out too late each night, we started too late each morning and we feel like we lost a couple hours of each day because we stayed up too late. For example, we came back to the room at 0300 one night. On our next trip we're going to try to "fix" that. Lesson #2 is, because MBJ's airport bag drop process is the way it is, we're going to try to pack in a way that we don't have to check a bag.
Questions from the trip. Booking direct vs. with a group? (I made a separate post asking that question)...and...what happened to the nude pool DJ's? It seems as though there is a DJ there for a short time during mid-afternoon but it also seems as though the poolside DJ has been greatly diminished. (Maybe just me but...)
We LOVE it there though! The rooms are nice, the grounds are fabulous and the place is immaculate but the people make Hedo what it is!
