If you are Canadian...
"Canadians are only required to be in possession of valid official photo identification (such as a driver's licence) and proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate) for travel to Jamaica."
The Canadian Travel Advisory website does recommend that you do travel with a passport in the event your flight will be landing in the U.S. for any reason. Not sure it would be the first concern in my mind if my plane had to make an emergency landing though, lol...

If you are planning a last minute getaway to H3, I wouldn't sweat over a passport but be prepared for a bit more of a delay at customs.
