Most of the people in quarantine had minor, or no symptoms and they all hung out together in that little grassy area. Food and drinks including bottles of rum, gin, etc were brought to them, and overall they were treated very well. They could socialize with one another, but they couldn't go out of the grassy area. A guard was posted nearby to ensure they didn't make a run for it. They played cards and other stupid games to amuse themselves and were in decent spirits. When we remarked that we were nervous about the test, they laughed and said we'd have no worries as the resort realized really quickly that it was becoming a hospital. They were correct as we went to get tested and the nurse only waited 2 minutes for the results before quickly tossing the test into the trash. I've taken enough antigen tests to know that results take a good bit longer to show up. Sure enough my wife and all the folks we hung out with came home positive. I was the one survivor, but I have natural immunity from a prior infection. Thankfully, no one had a serious case from our circle of friends. While I wasn't impressed with the testing done on property, I am selfishly glad we were able to come home to the US for her to recover. Still, that wasn't right and I sincerely hope that she did not infect anyone else while traveling. On the other hand, symptoms didn't start until after returning so hopefully she wasn't contagious. Would I go back? Yes I would, provided the surge in Jamaica is over. But I would damn sure make plans just in case I have to spend extra time in Jamaica. This means pack extra toiletries, have some covid symptoms treatments packed, and just be prepared. I find that if I plan for the worst, I usually never have a problem, but if I don't karma can be a bitch!
